Description
The former Hoogeveen Prison was built in 1989 and consists of 272 cells,
workplaces and other facilities. Over the years, the building has been modified and modernised several times.

The prison is located in a residential area, a short distance from the station and close to a care cluster.

At the end of 2014, the site was taken over by the COA for a period of two years (with the option an extension to 5 years) as a reception centre for asylum seekers. The complex was altered substantially for this purpose, and the outside wall was partially removed. When the COA vacates the site, the Central Government Real Estate Agency will resume the sale process.

Interested parties can register with the Central Government Real Estate Agency, with no obligation.
